Burt is looking SO MUCH BETTER!

I noticed last night before I went to bed that he was pale and his anus was really swollen with well over five worms in it.Burt is Better!

When the light came on this morning and I checked on him, he had developed stripes across his entire side and the parasite appears to be completely gone just overnight!

It will be 24 hours at about 6pm today from when I dosed the tank with  2.1 grams of Levamisole Hydrochloride. I will do another massive water change with a vacuuming of the gravel to get rid of all the dead worms.

So far the casualties for the Camallanus Parasite: 1 Neon Tetra

This brings my tank total to 10 Neon Tetras.

After the second water change I plan on getting 2-4 more neons, have to really think about it. I also plan on getting 1-2 more Bronze Cory’s.

Edit Part 2:

I got home today and Burt was hiding a bit. I turned the main light off to comfort him more. I overfed them by a decent bit this morning so I will reduce the amount of food I give them in the afternoon. The medicine says to feed them twice a day to get them to poop more. It helps to push the parasite out. I will turn the low light back on about 20 minutes before I give them food so they can see. Then I will wait about 30 minutes and turn the light off. I should wait an hour but it is best for them to have the light off right now. I am considering even covering the tank.

As for adding fish, I talked to Andrew and he advised that I wait until after the second treatment 3 weeks from now to add the new tetras and cories.

  2. DUDE! Baby Burt FINALLY has stripes! This is just wonderful! I’m so glad he’s well. . . I love that fish!!! Hooray for BURT!

Lookin’ good, dear – but if I were you I’d give it a couple of weeks before adding anything else to your beautiful tank. JUST to be SURE!

  3. :) I was so happy to see he got them. I don’t really know if its good or bad hahaha.

I turned the lights off when I got home because I noticed he was hiding a bit. Other then that he seems to be doing better. 2 more days until a water change. We will see how it all goes!
